It has been quite some time since I posted anything of this blog. I have recently explored other aspects of broadcasting and decided to focus on them. I do enjoy politics, but would like to focus on other topics rather than politics in my upcoming career. This is not a goodbye nor am I saying I will never go into politics within broadcasting. Rather, this is a see you later. This does not mean if I am offered a job in broadcasting concerning politics, I will say no. Most likely I would accept the job, however I would like to focus on other things.

Heath Care Bill....Unconstitutional
Florida judge ruled the recent Health Care Bill, Unconstitutional. Obamacare, nicknamed by many, has been at the top of the list of controversy. The mandate, that was even more controversial than the whole bill in general, will force Americans to have health insurance. The government cannot, constitutionally, force a citizen to get or do anything. However, there is a clause called the Commerce Clause that can force something upon a citizen based off of activity. For example, if you have your license and drive a motor vehicle you must buy car insurance, because it was your choice to get your license and drive. The Commerce Clause however does not cover the Health Care Law because not having health insurance and not doing anything about it is inactivity. It is expected that the Health Care Bill will make its way up to the Supreme Court, which it has been expected to be ruled as unconstitutional. I myself am hoping it is ruled as unconstitutional. The Health Care Bill should be repealed and needs more work in order to serve American citizens better. A public option should be added to this bill in order for it to serve a more positive purpose.

MTV's New Show Is Showing Too Much "Skin"
MTV aired their new show "Skins" Monday January 17th. This show is an adaptation of England's version. The show is a fictional representation of the very "real" lives of teenagers. Everything from sex to drugs to eating disorders is represented in the show. "In addition to the sexual content on the show involving cast members as young as 15, PTC counted 42 depictions and references to drugs and alcohol in the premiere episode,"-Parents Television Council (MSNBC).

Pause Before You Play: Bristol and Mike the Situation
Candies recently came out with a commercial promoting both abstinence and safe sex starring Bristol Palin and Mike the Situation. Many people criticized Bristol's mother, Sarah Palin, for being a hypocrite for promoting abstinence. A parent cannot control 100% of the actions and decisions made by their children. It is impossible. Bristol is taking the heat now for making this commercial and promoting abstinence calling her a hypocrite. I find this utterly ridiculous. Who better to promote the cause than someone that knows first hand the results? It is like someone who used to smoke cigarettes, quit, then promoted an anti-smoking campaign. Bristol knows first hand how hard it is to be a teen mom. I feel like the media is against promoting abstinence and feels Bristol is going against the curve. Schools today very briefly talk about abstinence, rather they have representatives from Planned Parenthood come in and teach the students how to use a condom. Abstinence is not "cool" which I never understood. I didn't think it was cool to have a child at 16 with a list of STIs. Teen pregnancy is on the rise and I for one congratulate Bristol and her efforts. Why are we condemning someone for saying yea I made a mistake I love my son, but abstinence is the way to go? Any opinions on this?
